There are a number of accommodation options situated in central Jeju, so we were spoiled for choice! The central area is on the northern side of the island and generally where the airport is, so as long as you’re staying in the central area, reaching the airport won’t take more than 10-20 minutes by cab. The hotels that were within our budget range, while offering fairly large rooms, didn’t look like they were ultra-modern, luxury types though. So, we opted to stay in a guesthouse for three nights, and booked through Airbnb. Our comments on our stay at Cozy Stay Guesthouse Jeju!
The guesthouse is located on a side road very near the main road. And while the side road is narrow and one-way only, it’s passable by vehicles, so our taxi could drop us right in front of the entrance. On the first day of our stay though, Mr. Lee had to drive his vehicle past another that was parked on the right, and it was a really tight squeeze!
The room we were given was located on the fourth floor, and had laminated flooring. The room was spotless – not just the bedroom and common area, but also the bathroom. The two queen-sized beds were especially comfortable, and the kids especially liked the really fluffy quilts. There were two air-conditioning units in the unit that could be separately controlled.
The common space had a sofa that could be converted into a bed (so three beds altogether), and also a small dining table with a couple of chairs. The space was also roomy enough for the four of us not to feel cramped or as though we were in each other’s way, and to lay out our large suitcases for us to pack and repack as needed. The full-sized fridge in the room and adjacent sink were appreciated, as were the laundry machines and dryers located on Level 3. Something to note too: the host requested guests not to do laundry after 6 PM – and I assume this is because the laundry/dryer room is near the guest rooms, so this was an effort to keep noise levels down after hours.
The venue is within a 2-3 minute walk of Dongmun Market and Jungan Underground Shopping Centre, and there are small privately owned dining establishments in the blocks around the main streets too. And yes, there were Starbucks and Mega Coffee outlets nearby in the same area.
There is only one thing that didn’t go so well during our stay: specifically, the absence of a lift. Our room was situated on the fourth floor, so it was a fair bit of going up and down the stairs whenever we went out, and even more challenging when we had to haul our luggage during check-in and check-out. Still, this was just twice, and we managed.

Overall, this was a great stay for us, and we enjoyed it. We recommend this place if you’re like us – travelling as a family and wanting somewhere quiet while still being within easy walking distance of Dongmun and Jungan.
