Death Grips

Hannah has just turned 5 months old today, and it’s been one big change after another in the last couple of weeks!

We were planning for Saturday brunch again at Compass Point’s Swensens’, and just when we were at the door way just about to leave, Ling said I had to be careful carrying her from now on, as Hannah’s learned how to actively reach out, touch and grab things.

In the course of a single 60 minute brunch outing: Hannah has…

blog-2009-baby-IMG_0038-swensens – Clutched my fingers, shirt and berms in death grips (see what she’s gripping in the picture!)

– Violently scratched all over my face and hands

– Kicked me in a tummy several times

– Nearly ripped off, successfully, my new pair of Titanium plated glasses

– Coated my entire forearm with a thick gooey layer of drool

That said, she’s still as adorably cute and very generous in offering her angelic giggles when you smile or do baby-talk with her.

And she sure catches a lot of attention when one of us (but especially Daddy!) is cradling her in our lap. More than a few childless couples near our table observed us with interest, and a motherly Swensens’ staff stopped by to chat with us and did baby-talk to Hannah at the restaurant too.:)

Here’s an iPhone picture Ling took at the restaurant, though Hannah’s making one of her faces here.:)

  1. haha… so cute… my nieces went through that stage too. they’d grab EVERYTHING and put it in their mouths LOL

  2. welcome to parenthood! :D

don’t think i have told you this – two of my husband’s male colleagues ended up hospitalised after being kicked by their babies while sleeping.

i have adopted a new sleeping posture after having kids – foetal position on the side and with pilllow on my head. kena the baby-heel-on-head tok before which is darn painful.

babies in toddling stage are enticed by swirling water in toilet bowl (hence we keep the covers on), garbage in dustbins, table cloth….

time to start thinking about safe-proofing the home – keep home furniture and things safe from being ravaged by babies…;)

  3. Ha ha :D Thanks for the tips.

My mother used to tell me that when I was a toddler, I woke up one night and went to the toilet (in those days, it was the squatting type) and dip my legs in the toilet bowl and splash the ‘water’ around. Hee hee :P

  4. Oh ya, and my younger brother would sleep walk. There was one time when he stopped in front of the TV, let down his pants and peed on the screen! Hee hee hee. :P
