There were two further-on spots in Uji that we listed in the itinerary: Byodo-in Temple, and also Uji Prefecture Park. The former requires an admission fee just to enter the grounds and not just the temple – unlike Todaji Temple where the grounds are free to enter. And since we’d already explored Todaji’s temple grounds just earlier in the morning, we decided against coughing up the dough to get into Byodo-in Temple, and opted to just explore the Park.
The Uji Prefecture Park runs along the river, and has requires no admission fee. There were several spots along the river with benches for sitting, and just – again – soaking in the sights, cool weather, and basically chilling. Several flora were still showing autumn colors, and coupled with the mid-afternoon sun again, made for some really striking pictures.
