Bali 2018 – Day 2 – Nusa Dua Beach and Pirates Bay Restaurant

Our visit to Phuket last December was already fairly heavy on beaches, so we gave the same a miss this trip to Bali. The Pirates Bay Restaurant is situated right on Nusa Dua Beach, and it was just 4PM by the time we’d reach the general location after our visit to Jenggala Keramik. Too early for dinner. And since the beach was right there, and both our kids have this persistent thing about sand (basically see sand must play/touch/grab/build), we spent an hour letting the kids loose before heading to the restaurant for a laid back and quiet dinner.

The Pirates Bay Restaurant is an interesting concept: the pirate-themed restaurant sees a life-sized boat – and no, I had no pretensions that this was an actual boat used by pirates LOL – and more impressively, dining areas put up on tree platforms. The menu is quite varied and offering fare that’s a little more pricey than the usual places. But really, the main attraction of this place is that you’re literally dining in tree-top platforms. Definitely worth a visit if you’re the vicinity!

The stretch of Nusa Dua beach we were on wasn’t actually pristine clean, but the kids don’t care.

A three floor treehouse for dining.
Johnny Depp’s likeness is everywhere.
Cushions to protect your bums!
Chilling on the tree-top.
A view from up-top.
A squirrel who was particularly interested to join us for dinner too.
Arrrggghh mateys!
For guests who’re terrified of heights, there are more grounded dining pavilions like these.
