Work-in-Progress – Part 17

Our once a month visit to the nearing completed The Minton condo has changed to fortnightly and now weekly visits. We normally visit in the mid-mornings and where possible only when I’m certain of getting reasonably decent lighting for pictures. Just for a change, we went by on the Vesak pubic holiday evening to check out what our new home looks like at evenings.

I’m not sure if there’s still construction on normal week day evenings, but all was quiet at least on the holiday evening, with just a couple of foreign workers relaxing in the compound chatting among themselves or calling loved ones back home. Not an easy shoot at all then, given the very small time window where there’s still sufficient light for exposure to near total darkness as the construction floodlights were all switched off. All the pictures were taken on the 14mm f2.5.

Several of the later pictures in the shoot were taken at 1/4s shutter speed and handheld. This exposure speed was only possible with the very unique 5-axis optical stabilization on the E-M5.
Exposure curves were tweaked quite a bit; there was a lot less light than this actually.

No, none of the residents have moved in yet. The lights are probably from some of the workers in the unit there.

Some homeowners were remarking that the much-discussed projected completion date of end-June will likely be a partial one too – i.e. the apartment units would be ready for residents to move in or begin their renovation work, but the facilities would still be undergoing final construction. Oh well; not as though we’re in a hurry to move in by mid-year anyway.=)

  1. Hey Chek Yang,

I am a Minton owner as well and I must admit, its a sheer pleasure reading your blog and seeing the progress of the property via your eyes. Thank you for doing that :)

Also, I would be thankful if you could connect me to the facebook group/ or any minton groups that you know of so that I can also keep up with the discussions.

    Thanks a lot again!

  2. Thanks to the visitation to our blog, Chandrakant. I’ve just emailed you too.=)

  3. Hi Ling,

You guys are doing a great job with the updates. I am looking forward to the completion and apparently your site is ranked no one on Google for The Minton construction progress! :)

Thanks a lot and it is a great way to keep my future partner informed about this progress and we are looking forward to starting our journey together at this new place shortly. She is a teacher as well (kids with special needs back in India) and just noted that you are in the same field.

I am not sure when they would hand over the keys but do you know any good interior designers? I’ll be happy to keep you informed if I get to know of one. Hit back if you have some information on that.

    Cheers!
    Kris

  4. Hi Kris,

Thanks for visiting and dropping a note at our blog site :) And a big “hi” to our future neighbour!.

We’re new to interior designers too. And are also asking around for recommendations. Will share more at our blog if we find something useful on this subject :)

    Cheers!
