Hannah @ NEX

The Nex Shopping Mall at Upper Serangooon opened last year, and is a short 10 minute drive from our Rivervale home. It’s also become one of our favorite weekend spots. The place has everything: a huge range of kopitiam-styled, small eateries and dining places – including what is my favorite western restaurant now – supermarkets, a community library, electronic gadget shops, and a department store.

The two down sides to it is the much-criticized car park layout, and also that the mall is situated along an already very heavily utilized main road. We try to get to the mall on odd non-peak hours, but when that’s not possible, Ling takes the wheel lest I tear my hair out in frustration just trying to navigate road traffic!

A couple of pictures of recent family outings to the mall over the long weekend.=)

The mall hosts a small community library on the top floor, and the library has a nicely done-up children's reading corner too.

Hannah's got into the habit of going to the shelves and carting back loads of books, not all of which she wants to read!

She's not at the edge yet where she can read independently on her own, but she enjoys turning book pages nonetheless and trying to make sense of the pictures.

At my favorite western restaurant, Lenas. Hannah gobbles up everything we order - and it's included a variety of baked rices, hotplates, pastas and pizzas.=)

Hannah looking pensive at the Fairprice hypermart on the third level. It's smaller than the massive store at AMK Hub, but there's still a large range of produce.

When we’ve moved to The Minton, we’re gonna be heading to the Nex even more often since it’s just a 3 minute drive away.=)
