Hard Decisions

I made what was one of the hardest decisions this year. I bought an IPad2 this afternoon during lunch hour. Yeah despite my intense dislike for the fruit company. I’d been planning to pick up an Android tablet for ages now, and especially keeping an eye on several models. The best of the lot was a just released Asus tablet called the Transformer EEE. Amazingly good specs and expansion capabilities, very attractive pricing, and equipped with a hugely customizable operating system designed from the ground up as a tablet OS.

Thing is… such a device is of any good to me only if it’s actually available in Singapore to begin with. Either the distribution channel for this device really sucks here, and/or Asus isn’t manufacturing those devices fast enough to meet demand. In fact, several stores in the states are completely sold out on the EEE, with orders backdated to the end of May already.

I was pretty much peeved as I’d wanted to get something by end of April that I can bring around and keep Hannah entertained. It’s getting harder and harder to keep her attention.  Fed up with waiting, I gave in and fell in with the rest of all the sheep around me and picked up the damn thing today. The cheapest 3G model I could find – no Apple is not getting a single extra cent from me.

More notes to come soon.

  1. I suspect I shall grab one soon enough, buddy, even though I’m perfectly satisfied with my current Android tablet. I’ve not been able to locate inventory of the TF101 EEE tablet either.
