Morning Byes and Evening Greets

There’s something I’m really look forward to everyday during this public school holiday period right now. As Ling and Hannah are both usually at home, whenever I leave home for work every morning, Hannah would accompany me to the door way to say, albeit still a little unsteadily, “buh bye”, give me a kiss and a hug, then wave a little too. When I return home from work, she’ll usually be able to hear my unlatching the metal gate and opening the front door, and will run to be just in time to greet me when I open the door, saying “dah dee”!

It’s a really cute sight and very tender bonding moment. The joys of parenthood. :)

  1. Hannah is so understanding and cute! Whenever daddy needs to leave the house (whether it’s to buy food or to work), the very instant she hears him rattle the keys, our little girl of 16 mths wld immediately start rushing towards him and bawl that she wants to go along too! Separation anxiety at it worst! The returning bit is abt the same tho, except that she calls “Papa!” (and “Mama”).

Recently the husband developed a fear of stairs. Because the little one was discovered the “joys” of climbing one and insists on conquering seven flights of stairs at one go. Poor Papa was doing most of the work supporting her unsteady steps and sweating like crazy!

So many more examples of how bossy and persistent our girl is… is this just a phase or is she just plain spoilt rotten???

  2. Hi Lisa,

I observe that children go through phases of growing up differently. Although Hannah has been reasonably well-behaved and cooperative, this phase might pass *yikes*. She has her insistent moments too. As much as humanly possible, I try to understand where she’s coming from, respect her individuality but at the same time set parameters to keep her safe and also inculcate values.

Hannah is also fond of climbing stairs :P
