Yet more reading material

Two books I’d recently blogged about here and here arrived this afternoon, but by way of a different book store this time: The Book Depository, a UK-based online book store. The store boasts free shipping to a long list of countries, including Singapore. But well, you know nothing’s ever free: many of the books I’m interested in sold by the Depository (even without shipping) are usually cheaper than Amazon with shipping costs added, but they aren’t all so.

Oh well; I was interested in trying out the store, and the three books I selected aren’t  sold at or were more expensive at Kinokuniya even with the 20% discount. Moreover, several book packages I’ve ordered from the UK have always reached Singapore quicker – and The Royal Mail service used by the Depository didn’t disappoint either. It took about 6 days from the point of dispatch to reach here, compared to the 2 weeks it typically takes for Amazon US.

Here’re the two books that arrived first: Lonely Planet’s Guide to Travel Photography by Richard I’Anson, and The BetterPhoto Guide to Photographing Children by Jim Miotke. Cost SGD32 and SGD35 respectively. Ling’s particularly interested in the second book, so more notes to come soon, surely.:)
