American Midwest

Here comes the proverbial post on traveling and destinations I’ll like to visit at some point!

Ling has visited most of Europe (I’ve only been to Denmark bleh) so whenever I bring up Central Europe for instance as a possible vacation destination, I’ll get disinterested looks from her.

Well, there’s one other place I’m interested in especially which she hasn’t been to before, and it’s the midwest America – that belt of a dozen states, including Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, South Dakota etc.

What’s in this region? Well Matt probably has a better idea since he lives there – but I’m sure he’ll say something along the lines of the region just having a lot of cows, deer and sheep.:)

Jokes aside though, one effect of living in Singapore is that you see people and buildings everywhere. It’s boring. For a change, I’ll like to see vast tracts of farmland, and forest regions that stretch as far as the eye can see. It’ll be a photographic trip for me too. Below are a couple of pictures Matt took of the area (he has more at this link here).

I’m hoping that Hannah grows up a little quicker, so come maybe 2011 or 2012, she’ll be old enough for us to bring her on one such trip. And oh yeah, we’ll take the opportunity visit Matt. And maybe there’ll be the local delicacy equivalent of roti pratas in the midwest.:)

  1. Correction: cows, deer, sheep, and boredom. I hope by the time you come visit the region there’s a solid wi-fi infrastructure in place. : )

There are things to do and places to see in the midwest, but man, the time it takes to get to one from the other will sap your energy fast!

  2. Yeah you’re right – I’ll have to check to see which would be the ‘sweet’ spot where we’ll get to the most locations without having to spend half of our time traveling.:(
