At 24 days away from home, it would had been oodles of fun if the trip had been to say Europe or Japan. I could nearly cover the breadth of the continent across Europe, or the entire length of Japan and its key attractions in that time.

But still; while it’s not nearly the longest I’ve been away from home, the feeling’s quite different this time as I’ve shared in the earlier post. That might be why amidst the portable hard disk, three thumb drives, three memory cards, and the MacBook Pro that’s accompanying me for the trip, a good amount of that accumulative storage space has gone into bringing along most of the photos and videos we’ve taken of Hannah in the last one year. Yep – including nearly about 3100 pictures of our baby girl.:)

Balancing it off is the amount of other stuff: especially clothes. While I’m reasonably certain that there will be laundry facilities at the home I’m staying, I’m not leaving it totally to chance. There are enough clothes packed in to last for more than a fortnight without having to recycle – after which I’ll then worry.:)

Optical equipment wise though: the Nikon D300 workhorse is packed in though supported with less lenses than in previous trips: just the 18-55mm and the Sigma 18-250mm, and their matching CPL filters. Joining in for still images is also the E-PL1 (terrifically handy for taking pictures without announcing it to everyone around you), and for video, the Panasonic TM700.

3:30 AM: It’s gonna be a really long flight: 3 legs, and 21 hrs 12 minutes with an additional 5 or so hours in between legs. I’m assuming there won’t be free wireless at Narita or the McNamara airports – so the next post that’s coming from me will be when I’m properly settled into my new if temporary home in Cambridge, Massachusetts on late Friday morning Singapore time. Till then, I think Ling has a number of posts queued up on baby food and behavior.:)

Hannah looking spectacularly awake at 3:45 AM

Posting from Changi Airport.:) It’s sort of ironical that my ‘longest’ short-trip isn’t for pleasure but for work.
