Her wails for attention have become a lot more frequent and sustained since the last fortnight.

Here’s what the situation’s like: Hannah used to have her own room, but over the last fortnight her cot was moved to our room for Matt. We actually got quite good tip-toeing around sneakily at night in our room just so that we didn’t wake Hannah up.

Unfortunately, the trouble began when she woke up each morning. On the mornings when either of us are at home, she’d wake up and if she spotted one of us still sleeping, she’d start bawling, and without fail! This even happened in the afternoons if one of us were napping. Basically, her modus operandi right now is that as long as she’s awake, she wants someone to be with and near her.

It happens even when she’s in her new play yard area. Like what happened last evening: she got into one of her lightning and thunder bouts, and wailed non-stop for close to an hour despite my best attempts to cajole and pacify her.

It stopped temporarily when I dug out the Panasonic HD video camera to get some footage of her bawling – she got attracted immediately to the light emission, but returned to wailing as soon as the camera was switched off. It’s a wonder The Straits Times forum page didn’t see a letter sent to it complaining about babies bawling coming off a certain apartment unit at The Rivervale the next morning.

No wonder Ling’s asked to take a couple of days off from caring for Hannah even though it’s the March school holidays now.:)

Until they start wailing non-stop, that is!
