More netbooks!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s a large wave of netbooks showing up in preorder listings off Amazon and flyers here since Windows 7\u2019s release last Thursday, and boy do they look tempting LOL. Many of them have somewhat similar specifications \u2013 they possess 11.6 inch LCD screens, chiclet keyboards, weigh about 1.4 kg, and make use of Intel\u2019s new line of ultra-low voltage processors. With a 5600 mAh battery, you could get up to 8 hrs \u2013 or about 6 hours of under actual realistic usage \u2013 of battery life, which would be nicely enough for the flight to Kyushu later this year.<\/p>\n<p>The one that\u2019s caught my eye is this one for instance: the Acer Aspire 1810TZ Timeline <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Acer-Aspire-Timeline-AS1810T-8679-11-6-Inch\/dp\/B002P8M6F2\/ref=pd_cp_pc_1\">that\u2019s going on Amazon<\/a> for USD599. Unfortunately, there\u2019s no indication that this unit\u2019s gonna be available here though \u2013 drat.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" title=\"blog-acer-1810t\" src=\"https:\/\/chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/blogacer1810t.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"blog-acer-1810t\" width=\"450\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But then again, I\u2019ve had miserable luck with Acer notebooks: the last one I had \u2013 an ultraportable Travelmate that I did a lot of thesis work on \u2013 had to be sent for repair three times in the first 18 months, though to be fair it worked pretty well after that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s a large wave of netbooks showing up in preorder listings off Amazon and flyers here since Windows 7\u2019s release last Thursday, and boy do they look tempting LOL.
