The event was held in the function room at The Rivervale. Nicely, there were sufficient tables and chairs to host all the friends and relatives who came – been to a couple of birthday bashes where it was standing room only \u2013 though we didn\u2019t have time to do any sort of decor. <\/p>\n
Actually, come to think of it, the event was a quick exercise in organization. Ling did the catering arrangements \u2013 we went with Mum\u2019s Kitchen \u2013 and with Lentor supplementing the menu spread with a lot of other stuff, including cuttlefish balls, Longan Jelly, Bean Curd and Ngo Hiangs<\/a>, there was way too much food at the event\u2019s end. <\/p>\n We picked up a bunch of Bengawan Solo cake vouchers for the guests; arguably a little less personalized but heck a lot more versatile than buying baby bash cakes that not everyone may actually enjoy. <\/p>\n The Mum\u2019s Kitchen menu was a bit of a mixed bag though. The portions were generous, and some of the items were very delicious (especially the Light Mutton Curry and Stir-Fried Sze Chuan Chicken), but the Fish Fillet with Spicy Mango Dip was sheer murder. The thing was super spicy and VERY hot. Ann from our cell group liked it, but I couldn\u2019t eat the thing without crunching ice in the same mouthful. I\u2019m sure Matt would have loved it though LOL.<\/p>\n But during the lunch event itself, she slept soundly for most of it, and appeared nonchalant about all the fussing coming from aunties and friends when they took turns carrying her.<\/p>\n It sure was tiring though \u2013 running up and down our apartment to the function room carrying things and showing different groups of friends and relatives the apartment, then cleaning up after the event (the function room was immediately used by another group after ours). But on balance, the event turned out well enough: fair weather, good food + excess food, well-behaved VIP etc.<\/p>\n Now, with all the leftovers in the fridge\u2026 LOL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hannah had her first month bash on Sunday. Best of all though was that little Hannah was supremely well-behaved. She\u2019d bawled a little early on that morning and poo-ed in the living room an hour before the event which left us scrambling to clean up. <\/p>\n
