I had intended to do it while Matt was here but we were too busy eating other types of good food! Hee hee. :D

I guess I bought the most expensive (~S$5++) premix available here. The brand is Prima Taste. The whole cooking process was extremely easy and quick (as compared to the 50 minutes spent on making congee). The premix came with laksa paste, dried grated coconut, sambal chilli and dried laksa leaf flakes. All I had to supplement were the laksa bee hoon (thick rice noodles), beancurd puffs, dao gei (bean sprouts), prawns and sliced fish cakes (Yang loves them). All of these items were bought from our nearby NTUC supermarket. You simply follow the cooking instructions given on the box and voila, your laksa is ready to be served.

After tasting it, Yang liked it and asked if it was anything close to the famous Katong laksa (well, he still haven’t tried it). I’d say it is a good imitation but falls short of that full and rich texture of Katong laksa gravy. If you’re overseas for the long haul and crave laksa, I dare say this premix will give you a taste of home.

I finally got down to cooking laksa (nonya version) with the premix bought a couple of months ago.
