With the removal of the Jeju Aerospace Museum from our itinerary, Mr. Lee – our driver – was able to include a visit to Suwolbong\u00a0<\/strong>for us to walk the long geotrail along the coast, and also a visit to Saebyeol Oreum after that. Suwolbong sits along the northwestern coast overlooking steep sea cliffs. Layers of volcanic ash and rock are clearly visible in the exposed formations, and there are two walking paths: one that runs along the ridge above the cliffs and offers wide views stretching across the ocean. The second path is the geotrail that runs along the Eongal coast. We opted for the second. The trail wasn’t crowded – again, I don’t think this place is on most international tourists’ itineraries, so aside from locals who were also enjoying the walk and scenery, the place felt very uncrowded – unlike Yongmeori Coast, which we’d visited two days earlier.<\/p>\n

There’s also an observatory and pavilion area a short drive away. After walking the geotrail for a bit, we drove uphill for very expansive views of the area.<\/p>\n

We’d also initially planned to visit Suwolbong Peak on Day 07 to catch the sunset. We’ll see how it goes now and whether we can drop a return visit and try something else a few days from now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
