But it’s a family tradition at this point!

The daughter was quipping why are we visiting so many waterfalls this trip. We actually even got the Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls mixed up with Cheonjiyeon Waterfall that we’d just visited yesterday – but notice the difference of that single letter ‘e’ and ‘i’ in the name. Cheongjeyeon is like Cheonjiyeon or Jeongbang falls that we’d checked out on Day 01: Cheonjeyeon actually consists of three waterfalls, and is located within a forested valley. There seems to be two possible routes one can take, and it depends on from where you’re visiting the valley. We entered from the northern entrance, so the suggested route to take was to visit the upper falls before continuing along paths and bridges deeper into the gorge.

Each of the three waterfalls has a slightly different appearance and setting. The first waterfall is a little short and wide, but there was not water falling to speak of: it only comes after heavy rainfall. The second falls is the famous one and set aside the waters of the turquoise pond, looked incredible. Getting to the first two falls which are near each other is pretty quick. The third waterfall though is accessible through a much longer walk, and from what we read, most visitors didn’t feel that the walk was worth it. So we skipped visiting the last fall, and headed to Seonimgyo Bridge that crosses the valley above the water.

The two upper waterfalls are close to each other.

Map of the area.

The first waterfall on a sunny day.
