Our notes recording grub on this 18-day trip to South Korea! This is a super long post with a lot of pictures, so it’s split into two parts. Part 1 covers grub from Days 01 to 09!<\/p>\n

Day 01 lunch: ‘Los Katsu’ a pork cutlet set at the level 2 food court at Busan Station. 10,000 KRW. Taste not so great.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Cheese ramen, 6,000 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 01 dinner at Starbucks along Gwangalli Beach: lunch at the Busan Station food court was in the mid-afternoon, so we weren’t hungry.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 02 street food lunch at Gukje Market. We ordered four items, with each costing around 6,000 KRW. This one is fried chicken.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
And this one is tteok-bokki spicy rice cakes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 02 dinner at Guns n Shrimp, an Italian restaurant located in the basement of LOTTE Department Store Gwangbok. This is the pepperoni pizza that didn’t taste pretty decent. 14,900 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Meat tomato pasta, 10,900 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Steak curry rice, 9,900 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 03 lunch at the No Brand Burger. Food was pretty good, and also cheap! We had the bulgogi and shrimp burger sets, with each costing around 5,000 to 7,000 KRW. Total damage was 32,700 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Day 03 dinner at RAON Korean, located at the same basement food court at LOTTE Department Store Gwangbok. Had the Korean beef bibimbap. This should be around 10,000 KRW. Pretty sumptuous, and I’m not even a fan of bibimbap normally!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Day 04 dinner at HANA Tonkatsu, a 10th-floor Japanese restaurant at LOTTE Department Store Gwangbok. This restaurant does Japanese-style house-made pork cutlet and opened in 1999. This one is the Pork Cutlet in Curry Rice, 15,500 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Pork cutlet with rice, i.e. tonkatsu. There are two sizes: the normal one of 140g and the larger 180g – costing 13,900 and 16,500 KRW respectively.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 06 lunch at Mom’s Touch in Suncheon. This was a heap of food for around 34,000 KRW. We opted for the garlic chicken, and it was yummy, though we thought the gravy was a tad too sweet. We ate at Mom’s Touch several times this trip, to the point where the kids and missus were pretty tired of the food there!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 08 lunch at Jangmonim Chicken on the street just in front of Nagan Eupseong Folk Village. This family-run restaurant had the sweetest auntie who was the proprietor. This was also our first time having tonkatsu with the gravy already on top of the pork cutlet piece. The taste is really heavy though, so we needed to remove the excess gravy off the cutlet. The cost of this item was 10,000 KRW: pretty good value for money as the cutlet size was huge!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
We also had the ‘half-and-half’ chicken set: half fried, and the other half sweet and spicy chicken. Cost was 22,000 KRW, and it was a huge amount of food!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 09 brunch at Seoul Station Connect after we’d just arrived at Seoul Station. The Connect occupies two levels, with the second floor hosting restaurants and a food court offering fare at reasonable prices. This is the beef bowl, done Japanese style: do note that there is a spoonful of wasabi on it. I forgot to remove it, and almost choked when I took a mouthful of it! This cost 13,500 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Bibimbap, the daughter’s favorite Korean dish, though post-trip she said that the Nex Food Junction one is even better. We had this several times at Station Connect including the Day 09 brunch and meals in the coming days. Cost is 13,000 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Vietnamese Beef Brisket Pho at Station Connect. This was done pretty well too, though the wife said it seemed to be missing a number of herbs, including basil, cilantro, and mint. Cost was 12,000 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Day 09 dinner at an affordable restaurant in Myeongdong. This was a Japanese curry set, and interestingly they separated the pork cutlet piece from the curry. This should be 9,500 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Two gimbap rolls at around 5,000 to 6,000 KRW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
