We’d neglected to check the museum’s opening hours though, and as it turned out, the museum is closed on Monday. We quickly checked the list of attractions covered in the Busan Visitor Pass, and realised that the Escape Room Busan was also near where we were. So we took a brisk walk over—only to discover that the escape room was already booked by other guests, and the next available slot was at 5PM: that would have been too late for us, as we wanted to get to Busan Tower by sunset. What rotten luck. So, we dropped that segment altogether and headed towards Yongdusan Park and Busan Tower, the last places on our Day 03 itinerary.

The park is located in Jung District, and is actually a fairly near 15-minute walk from our Airbnb apartment. The 120-meter-tall Busan Tower is located inside the park, and since we were an hour early before sunset, we took a very easy casual stroll through the park, and found—to the children’s delight—a number of very tame cats in the park area. We easily encountered half a dozen of the felines, and I suspect the number who call the park their home would be much higher even.

Sunset was at about 5:15PM, so we made our way up to Busan Tower at 4:45PM. The tower was built in 1973, and there is a cafe and souvenir shop on the ground floor. The observation deck at the top of the tower offers a panoramic view of the city. The windows in the tower were very clean, which made it possible to take some really detailed pictures of the city below us. The tower doesn’t just allow visitors to admire the city from its observation deck: the floor below the observation level is themed around a submarine, and you can peer at the city through portholes. Taking the lift back to level two brought us to a small museum comprising artwork of fishes—no kidding—and also a small area with colorful displays that show the four different seasons.

Busan Tower is located inside Yongdusan Park.

We enjoyed the quiet and slow stroll through the park.
