We returned to One Farrer Hote<\/strong>l this year for our 15th Wedding Anniversary staycation. We’ve generally avoided staying at same properties so far for no other reason than to try new experiences. But the changing situations from the pandemic meant that properties we’d earlier booked cancelled on us – twice even. Those dastardly<\/span> deeds were done by Amara Hotel first, then Rendezvous Hotel next when we placed a reservation with them. Both of the latter properties were naturally apologetic, but it certainly left us with a bad taste in the mouth.<\/p>\n

Left with limited choices, we settled for One Farrer<\/strong>, a property we’d stayed at 3 years ago also for our wedding anniversary, and blogged here<\/a>. Fortunately, we were allocated a different room in what seemed like recently refurbished floor: so we have some new comments for our one night stay this time.<\/p>\n

To get to the most important bit first: the stay was all good – except for one critical bit: despite my clearly remarking that our stay was for our wedding anniversary, we were allocated a room with separate beds<\/strong> that were put together to form a ‘double’ bed. I’m not sure whether the hotel was simply fully booked – it certainly didn’t feel that way – or that little booking detail had been missed out at reception. Either way, the hotel staff serving us merely told us that was what we’d been allocated, hoped we didn’t mind, then went about to process the rest of our reservation without further comment. We were determined not to let what I thought was an undesirable room spoil our stay, nor are we the type of persons to kick up a fuss – so we let it go. But it certainly gave me a not particularly good impression.<\/p>\n

That aside, the rest of the room was good. The (refurbished?) room was one with a high ceiling<\/strong> that made the unit feel bigger than it already was. The room had parquet flooring and modern fittings<\/strong>, very clean, and when the blinds were fully up, made for a very bright and cheerful feeling<\/strong> place to spend a weekend. The view from our level 19 room was also magnificent, as you can observe from the picture here.<\/p>\n

The room featured electronically controlled lighting with mood settings<\/strong>, and the two sets of window blinds made it possible for you to control lighting in the room to a good degree. The window side of the room offered bay window seating, and also a work area. There was a large wall-mounted TV which I reckon is probably of around 65″.<\/p>\n

Lastly, the hotel provide breakfast<\/strong>: the fare itself was ordinary, but the restaurant was cosy and tastefully decorated: and we really enjoyed the breakfast experience in that morning.<\/p>\n

And oh yes; parking<\/strong> was still complimentary, and we had no problems finding lots in the multi-story carpark.<\/p>\n

In all, this was a comfortable stay again for the both of us: though that we were allocated a less than desirable room is something that really shouldn’t had happened.<\/p>\n
