After <a href=\"https:\/\/chekyang.com\/musings\/2008\/05\/18\/ling-half-wondered-if-it-was-a-hoax\/\">spending 25 days with us<\/a>, our Ang mo friend Matt left Singapore weighing slightly less than he&#8217;d first arrived! Mind you, this is after stuffing him with the below items (and he had 30 roti pratas alone):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Paranakan Cuisine: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">laksa (Katong of course!)<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">nonya curry, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">rojak, popiah, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">otah,<\/span> mee siam, kueh kueh etc<\/li>\n<li>Chinese cuisine: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">dim sum (e.g. xiao long bao from Din Tai Fung), clear soups,<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Hainanese chicken rice,<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">duck rice (A* coffee shop),<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">shrimp dumpling noodles (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.streetdirectory.com\/asia_travel\/travel\/travel.php?travel_id=7314&amp;travel_site=90500\" target=\"_blank\">Rivervale Mall<\/a>\u2019s Foodcourt)<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Old Chang Kee Curry Puff<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">fried carrot cake <\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">fried rice (Din Tai Fung\u2019s)<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">mee swa<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">three layer belly pork<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">chwee kway<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">fried oyster omelette, Chinese rice dumplings,<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">coconut pancakes,<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">curry yong tau fu, fried Hokkien mee (Punggol Plaza foodcourt),<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">chinese pancakes, <\/span>beef hor fun (Casaurina Rd), fried kway teow, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">dim sum &amp; congee (Crystal Jade\u2019s), steamboat, <\/span>Jumbo seafood chilli crabs (revisit)<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Malay cuisine: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">mutton \/ beef rendang (my mother in-law\u2019s one is good)<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">nasi lemak, nasi briyani,  satay, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">lontong, <\/span>mee rebus, mee soto, mee goreng etc<\/li>\n<li>Indian cuisine: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Roti prata (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.streetdirectory.com\/asia_travel\/travel\/travel.php?travel_id=1909&amp;travel_site=90496\" target=\"_blank\">Compass Point<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.banquet.com.sg\/\" target=\"_blank\">Banquet<\/a> the best!)<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">teh tarik, teh halia<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">mutton curry<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">fishhead curry<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">naan, etc<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Thai cuisine: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">green curry, mango and glutinous rice dessert,<\/span> red rubies, sweet tapioca, etc<\/li>\n<li>Local fruits: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">durian, mangosteen<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">malay apples<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Misc: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Mcdonald&#8217;s breakfast in Singapore, Yang&#8217;s Carbonara<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Bak kwa, Jasmine Green Tea, chrysanthemum tea<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-377 alignright\" style=\"float: right;\" title=\"blog-2008-06-11-dsc_1365-departure\" src=\"https:\/\/chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/blog-2008-06-11-dsc_1365-departure.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/>So we did miss a few items here and there. For instance, a follow-up visit to Jumbo seafood (we brought him there the first time he came in 2006), Casuarina Road&#8217;s beef hor fun (the place was closed for the afternoon), and a few popular Malay cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve pretty much determined that the huge amount of food we force-fed him<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;\">\u2014i<\/span>ncluding half a kilo of bak kwa we bought him to bring back<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;\">\u2014<\/span>just still wasn&#8217;t enough to offset the incredible amount of walking he did while here in Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok. We&#8217;re gonna have to wait for him to tell us how much did he walk up and down here, but we conservatively judge it to be at least 3-4 hours of it every single day.<\/p>\n<p>Ling was thinking mournfully as we sent him off <a href=\"http:\/\/fumoffu.chekyang.com\/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&amp;g2_itemId=1043\">this morning at Changi airport<\/a> when he&#8217;d be back. Personally, I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;d be too long. Matt&#8217;s already said he&#8217;ll be back for Singapore&#8217;s 50th birthday at least, but I think the beckoning of Compass Point&#8217;s roti prata is going to be too much for him.
