I have a handy spreadsheet that lists the standard items that go into luggage and\/or hand-carry.<\/p>\n<p>Thereafter, the only thing that needs to get changed for each trip I get prepared for is the number of days I\u2019m staying \u2013 which is used as a multiplying factor for the clothing items I need \u2013 and also a toggle for the type of season and weather I\u2019m getting into, i.e. cold or tropical. The items in my spreadsheet get listed also for approximate weight, and I\u2019ll know how much baggage allowance I still have.<\/p>\n<p>Funnily, the one and only hard thing I have when it comes to packing for a trip \u2013 in this case the San Francisco trip departing tomorrow \u2013 is what electronic equipment to bring! This time round though, here\u2019s what\u2019s going into the bag:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" title=\"blog-sanfran-P1000642\" src=\"https:\/\/chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/blogsanfranp1000642.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"blog-sanfran-P1000642\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">D300 + MB-D10 grip + SB600 flash<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Nikon 18-55 mm +\u00a0 Nikon 55 \u2013 200mm + Sigma 10-20mm lenses<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Panasonic HDC-SD20 digicamcorder<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Polarizer filters<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Manfrotto monopod<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">MSI Wind<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the usual suspects with a few changes: the <a href=\"https:\/\/chekyang.com\/musings\/2009\/03\/17\/panasonic-hdc-sd20-%e2%80%93-notes-i\/\">Panasonic HD digicam<\/a> is coming along on its \u2018maiden\u2019 trip, and my larger NEC notebook is staying at home with the more portable <a href=\"https:\/\/chekyang.com\/musings\/2009\/01\/15\/toys-and-babies\/\">MSI Wind netbook<\/a> doing the onsite blogging honors this time \u2013 assuming if I get Wi-Fi access somewhere. Likewise, the Manfrotto CF tripod that accompanied me on the Bali trip is replaced by the lighter monopod (no Tripod Girl LOL).<\/p>\n<p>Still, there isn\u2019t a lot of sight-seeing unfortunately \u2013 the 8 day trip is crammed from front to back with the conference itself, business meetings, and networking nights.
