One of Sapporo\u2019s most famous landmarks is its Sapporo TV Tower,<\/strong> which sits on one end of Odori Park. The digital clocks – courtesy of Panasonic – installed on all four sides of the tower don\u2019t just tell time: they provide a fantastic way for visitors to get oriented around the city: just look for the tower if you\u2019re lost haha. The observation deck is a modest platform at just 90m above ground – admission fees are required – but it\u2019s one of the best ways to view the entire stretch of Odori Park and Sapporo Central. On a good and clear day, one can also see the mountain ranges just beyond, including Mt. Moiwa that we ascended two days ago. Admission prices are \u00a5720 and \u00a5300 for an adult and a child attending elementary school respectively.<\/p>\n

Not many people were up on the observation deck Wednesday afternoon, and the viewing deck itself isn\u2019t very big, and part of the space is also taken up by a souvenir shop and the usual binocular-type machines you deposit coins in for a closer look. There aren\u2019t any toilets on the observation deck either, so if you have a full bladder, you\u2019d want to do the necessary at the ticketing counters before taking the elevator up.<\/p>\n

Unlike my venture up Fukuoka Tower in September this year, I didn\u2019t attempt any time-lapse videos this time for Sapporo Tower. Doubt the kids would have been alright if we stayed at the deck for 30 minutes just for their father to set up one such recording!<\/p>\n
