But since we&#8217;d dropped the two temples off our Kamakura itinerary, we had an additional hour to spend in the small city. Kamakura reminds me of the other small cities I visited during the September trip, and in particular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chekyang.com\/musings\/2019\/09\/25\/11-days-in-chugoku-kyushu-day-10-dazaifu\/\">Dazaifu<\/a>. The entrance leading up to the temple is easy to miss: assuming you&#8217;re walking from the Bamboo Grove, keep to the right side of the road, and look for a little step of stairs on your right leading up.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_31047\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31047\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-31047 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/blog-2019-japan-kanagawa-hokkaido-day-02-A7_01350-kamakura.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"714\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/blog-2019-japan-kanagawa-hokkaido-day-02-A7_01350-kamakura.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/blog-2019-japan-kanagawa-hokkaido-day-02-A7_01350-kamakura-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/blog-2019-japan-kanagawa-hokkaido-day-02-A7_01350-kamakura-768x548.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-31047\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Looking down back towards the main road. I found the spot a bit disappointing, as the moss stairs serve more as a somewhat special decoration but themselves aren\u2019t a functional series of steps for obvious reasons. The bus terminal is right in front of the station, and there are three buses &#8211; 23, 24 and 36 &#8211; which will bring you to the Bamboo Grove.
