During the planning stage of our itinerary, I did check out the accommodation prices of the Old English Manor<\/strong>, a Tudor-styled English mansion located in Cingjing that started receiving guests for staying in 2009. One look at the room rates though made my eyes water: starting @ SGD555 a night. Ouch! So, all we could do was to stand on the outside to gawk at the beautifully styled architecture \u2014 like most other visitors to Cingjing. Thankfully, we got there in the early evening at about 5PM, so most crowds who’d come by also to gawk had long gone by then \u2014 leaving just a small number of visitors who’d, like us, also just stopped by.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>The real highlight for the night, aside from the really beautiful place we’re staying for a night (I’ll write about The Cotswold Villa<\/a> in a separate post later), was dinner at the Spring Ground Hot Pot<\/strong> city, a restaurant<\/a> that’s in the same block as its Bed & Breakfast establishment. The hot pot place saw busy crowds, but we got a table without waiting. Before long, food was arriving. Depending on your persuasions, there are plenty of options with different pricing for your hot pot \u2014 including the standard per-person portions, premium or standard types of meats, seafood, etc. Long story short: it was a satisfying meal but also pretty expensive. We paid NTD1,760\/SGD78 for our family of four, making this the most expensive meal we’ve had in Taiwan at this point.<\/p>\n
