The Ubud Monkey Sanctuary<\/a> is another hugely popular tourist attraction in Bali, and any visitor to Ubud would at some point go by the spot. The reserve holds more than 700 monkeys over about 12.5 hectares, and roam freely. I’m not sure when the reserve opened, but it certainly didn’t look quite as well-developed ten years ago. I normally wouldn’t say this for the obvious tourist spots like Tanah Lot and Ulun Danu Bratan, but the Monkey Sanctuary is worth a visit for its fairly nominal admission fees (50K and 40K IDR each for adult and child respectively). There are a lot of fairly tame monkeys about, and as long as you don’t go too near them or touch them (unless they on their own initiative climb on you haha), there’s sufficient space for large groups of visitors to observe them without tramping over each other.<\/p>\n

The monkeys do really come very close, so that I didn’t bring the Sigma MC-11 for the Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 wasn’t too crippling for this visit to take some really nice close-ups with the Sony FE 24-105mm f4.0.<\/p>\n
