One thing we’ve tried to do a little differently this trip was not to go full-board consumption mode for the kids. Yes, there would be the usual visits to interesting and scenic places, zoos, parks and the like – but for a change, we included four immersion and workshop events for H and P for this Bali trip. The first of these four events was a visit to Jenggala Keramik, one of the leading manufacturers of ceramic products in the region. The factory has a showroom front-end, cafe, and – the reason for our visit – a simple Paint A Pot<\/a> activity for children. Jenggala itself was a short 10 minute drive away from Waterbom Bali.<\/p>\n

The concept is really quite simple: the kids pick their ceramic piece – e.g. cup, saucer, mug, plate, sauce plate – go through a quick introduction on how to use the paints, and the process thereafter: basically, heating in the kiln, and ready for collection in a few days. The two ceramic mugs our kids chose cost 200,000IDR each, and hopefully the burnt-in process will result in a stable-enough product for them to actually use when we collect it at the end of our trip. We were the only participants in the programme on Sunday afternoon, so had the entire work area to ourselves.<\/p>\n

In all, it’s a pretty nice and quiet activity and we recommend this programme if you’ll like a respite from the busy crowds on the island.<\/p>\n
