Most visitors traveling from Margaret River\/Pemberton to Valley of the Giants will want to stop by Walpole – which is a relatively close 20km away from the Valley. It’s a very small and laid back town but has the most important necessities – a few cafes and restaurants, petrol station, pharmacy, and also a convenience store. There are also several scenic spots, and thanks again to Ling’s eagle eyes, we stopped by the Nornalup Inlet, which is just behind the town and mostly hidden away and thus very easy to miss.<\/p>\n

Everyone in the family has eyes like hawks (excepting Daddy). Peter spotted bees and so we stopped for Mommy to try getting them on her camera.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We spotted at least two eateries along the road: what looked like a Philippine-run restaurant, and the Golden Wattle Cafe-Bakery which offers a range of western food items, and seemed to be run by a young Asian pair.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We had the Giant Valley Burger (stuffed with beef patty, a slice of steak, egg, lettuce and tomato), a Chicken burger, Fish & Chips for the kids, and latte for Ling. Damage was AUD44.30.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There is a small but absolutely lovely park just opposite the row of shops and eateries. The thick canopy of covering trees make for a very pleasant rest and even lunch spot if you take-out.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Nornalup Inlet jetty. Beautifully serene! There were several small hobby fishing boats parked, with one that was returning just when we arrived. We also spotted a family of Pelicans on the far side, but the 40-150mm f2.8 was in the car.:(<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With the kids watching the returning fishing boat and very engaged, Ling finally had a few minutes respite from having to mind our two kids.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kids were absolutely fascinated. If only they plucked up enough courage to ask this fellow for a ride on his little boat!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
