The latter is coming from an eBay seller, so it\u2019ll still be at last a week before it arrives. As for the camera itself; it\u2019s a 12 megapixel shooter, with a fully automatic for-dummies mode, and also a somewhat more customizable Program mode.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0pt none;\" title=\"blog-2012-photography-N7K_6494-canon-ixus\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/blog-2012-photography-N7K_6494-canon-ixus_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"blog-2012-photography-N7K_6494-canon-ixus\" width=\"550\" height=\"290\" border=\"0\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The IXUS 115HS, alongside its brethen: Ling&#8217;s LZ8, and my E-PL2.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0pt none;\" title=\"blog-2012-photography-N7K_6503-canon-ixus\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chekyang.com\/musings\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/blog-2012-photography-N7K_6503-canon-ixus_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"blog-2012-photography-N7K_6503-canon-ixus\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" border=\"0\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Either the IXUS is tiny, or my Galaxy Note is massive!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After spending the better part of the day tinkering around with it, here\u2019s what I think are the camera\u2019 strengths:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">It\u2019s really tiny, and easily the most pocketable compact camera I\u2019ve got now.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Maximum aperture of f2.8 \u2013 nice!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Lots of scene modes (not that I\u2019ll bother scrolling through them if ever)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Full 1920&#215;1080 movie capture, though only at 24fps.<\/p>\n<p>And for the immediate downsides:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">It\u2019s so tiny that wrapping the camera strap around your wrist is a must, lest you accidentally drop it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">No handgrip, which makes the above pointer even more critical.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">No A, S, or M modes, unlike Ling\u2019s Panasonic LZ8.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Pictures out of box are pretty soft. Sharpening in post-processing will be necessary for this bugger.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">JPG pictures don\u2019t quite have the \u2018pop\u2019 when compared to the E-PL2.<\/p>\n<p>Oh well. I know what I was buying into; and besides, I don\u2019t intend for this camera to be a replacement for my E-PL2.
