As Yang and I was eating\u00a0our home-style stir-fry dish\u00a0of sliced pork, asparagus and golden mushrooms for dinner just now,\u00a0I became horrified all of a sudden.\u00a0“These golden mushrooms\u00a0are cultivated in China! The substrate used might be plasticky!” I cried.\u00a0I always detested the chemical smell\u00a0drifting from the\u00a0plastic wrapping\u00a0whenever it\u00a0was cut. What was that? It seemed to resemble the smell from those disposable chopsticks. Sulphur dioxide? Worse still, was the substrate made up of\u00a0ground used disposable chopsticks? *Shudder*<\/p>\n
Pardon my wild imagination. :)<\/p>\n
Anyway, the list of MIC items I’m\u00a0avoiding\u00a0is growing by the day. So far, the list goes like this:<\/p>\n
1) China fruits (pears, Fuji apples,\u00a0nectarines, hami melons)<\/p>\n
2) China vegetables<\/p>\n
3) China luncheon meat (This should be the first on my list. Yang knows the story)<\/p>\n
4) China fungi (golden mushrooms, shiitake)<\/p>\n
5) China dried products (scallops, birdnest, dates, seaweeds)<\/p>\n
6) China biscuits<\/p>\n
7) China rabbit sweets<\/p>\n
8) China imported medicine, including dried herbs (mother would be upset)<\/p>\n
