I made some mistakes during baking but this recipe was so forgiving that the cake turned out yummy still. :) There are a good number of blogs that shared this wonderful recipe. One local blog (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelittleteochew.com\/2009\/05\/steamed-moist-chocolate-cake.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Little Teochew<\/a>) which I visit every now and then also shared this recipe and her improved version of it.<\/p>\n<p>As far as personal preference is concerned, my deviations from the original recipe found in the link above were:<\/p>\n<p>1) I used an 8-inch round tin instead of the recommended 9-inch.<\/p>\n<p>2) I used cake flour (this yields a softer cake as compared to plain flour)<\/p>\n<p>3) I used less sugar: 200 g instead of 225 (and I think the amount could still go down further)<\/p>\n<p>4) The boiling water used for steaming came into partial contact with the exterior of the cake tin &#8211; something which should be avoided. I couldn&#8217;t help it as my wok was too shallow. And the tin wobbled throughout the 45 mins of steaming and the cake turned out fine! Amazing.<\/p>\n<p>I shall try the improved version that has coffee added for enhanced flavour for my MIL&#8217;s birthday&#8230; with some proper frosting, I hope. :)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is my first successful chocolate cake!
