Day 06 @ Jeju – East Jeju – Seongeup Folk Village, Umutgae Coast and Hado Coastal Road

Aside from our ascent up Seongsan Mountain earlier this morning, a visit to Seopjikoji and also the Haenyeo diver performance later in the day, the rest of Day 06 today was basically filler itinerary around these three places, and also involved heading in the general westerly direction to return to Jeju City, where we’d be spending our last three days. We’d initially also included a bunch of places in our planned itinerary to see hydrangeas. But we’ve already seen so much of this flower species this trip that by this point in our holiday, including some magnificent specimens in beautifully curated gardens and parks, we didn’t really feel the need anymore to visit more places with them as the highlight.

Since we had a fair amount of time to kill, Mr. Lee added a quick stop by the Seongeup Folk Village, and a work colleague had also strongly encouraged that we visit the Nexon Computer Museum – which I’ll post about next too. Apart from these two additions, we also did brief stopovers at Umutgae Coast, and Hado Coastal Road today. Pictures!

Seongeup Folk Village is a small traditional village on the island. I have vague recollections of visiting this place 20 years ago, but it certainly looks more developed now.
The village has been inhabited for 600 years now, and several houses looked like they were residential properties or shopfronts.
The compound still retains sections of its wall.
The village looks like it’s on tour bus routes, as there was a small group of tourists who’d also stopped by for a look.
A look at Seongsan from Umutgae Coast. The mist we saw earlier this morning had completely cleared.
At Hado Coastal Road. The hydrangea shrubs along the road looked like they were already past their peak, so they looked a little old.
There is an observation deck along this coastal road that offers a view of Seongsan from a distance.
