The third and last hotel of my 10 day trip to Nagoya-Toyota City was back in Nagoya again, and I opted for a simple i.e. cheap stay at a property near to Nagoya train station. I was staying for just three nights, and most of the time will be out of the hotel anyway on day trips. So, I basically needed just a bed, charging ports, and a bathroom, all in a non-smoking room. The hotel I found at a good rate was the APA Hotel Nagoya Ekimae, a property that’s just a little further away from the train station than the Via Inn Nagoya Ekimae Tsubakicho I stayed in last week, but it was still a very manageble 3 minute walk to Ecsa Underground shopping mall.
My comments!
Single Room with a double bed – non smoking, and situated on the 12th floor. The room is a small 10 sqm, so primarily designed for single travelers. There’s just sufficient space for me to put out my luggage case on the floor and take things out or pack them back in, after which the luggage case would need to be stored away underneath the bed to make it possible for me to move around the room.Small work table that barely has space for all the stuff I’ll place on it – including the Honor MagicBook Art 14, a 16″ portable OLED monitor, a power strip, that large Chargeasap Zeus 280W USB-C multiport charger etc! There was also a small refrigerator, and a small try of complimentary beverages. which are the instant-mix kind These get topped up daily by room service who’d leave the fresh linen, selected toiletries and room amenities in a plastic bag hung outside your door each day. Sound-proofing was solid: I barely heard any noise or sound whenever I was in the room.Compact bathroom with all the amenities.View from my 12th floor room, or not much of a view. But I was out of the hotel every day and only returned at night, so it didn’t bother me one bit.Lobby on the ground floor. Check-in was fast, though as these Japanese hotels go, they will only allow you to check-in at the stipulated time: 3PM in this case. The hotel was happy to hold onto my luggage though when I arrrived just after lunch. There is a communal bath for different genders on the second floor, and supposedly self-service laundry machines. I saw several guests stopping at level 2 in their robes to make use of the bath, but I could for my life find these laundry machines.APA Hotel Nagoya Ekimae, a short 2 minute walk from BIC Camera.
In all, this was a pleasant enough property: though between this and the Via Inn Nagoya Ekimae Tsubakicho I stayed at last weekend, I preferred the latter on account of the very slightly larger room – sufficient enough for me to put out my luggage case and still walk around – and also the complimentary beverage tray was of higher quality. But these are finally small things, and if affordability is key for you, the APA Hotel Nagoya Ekimae is pretty alright!
