Work-in-Progress – Part 38

The Minton development has seemingly stalled for a couple of weeks now. From visual exterior looks, and apart from some minor patch-up work, the condo seems done and ready for temporary occupancy. The process of attaining the issue of TOP – temporary occupancy permit – seems more complicated however, and from checks on the BCA site, inspections to reach this status have still not been successful. Sigh. The latest word though is that another filing of documents has just been made a few days ago, and this time round hopefully TOP will be issued – whereupon we’ll finally be able to get keys, and begin the process of selecting our ID and renovation can finally begin.

I was remarking to Ling that even though there clearly hasn’t been significant development for several weeks now, not having visited the site for 3 weeks now for visits have made me feel as though I’ve been neglecting my duties to photo-record The Minton’s development! The Saturday noon-time visit saw pretty cloudy weather though – we’ve been experiencing fairly frequent flash-rain for the last few weeks now – so the pictures below don’t showcase the visual vibrancy I’ve obtained from other visits.

There seems to be just slightly more greenery growth at Tranquil World. Or maybe that's just my imagination!

Indoor gym equipment have been installed. Squint a little harder and you'll also see emptied PC boxes on the right-side of the picture. Wonder if these integrated PCs are for the managing agent office, or residents' computer room.

  1. Thanks Chek yang for the update, been looking out for it.
    Been checking my mail box for TOP letter but don’t see any yet, sigh!
    Saw the photo on patching markings on Blk 14A – sure hope this is not going to delay the release of keys
    Sure looking forward to getting the keys before the year is up.

  2. Is anyone concerned at the seemingly numerous areas of patches that need to be done across various blocks, or is this normal? Just a bit disconcerting to see 14A patches as it’s my block ;-)

  3. There were actually quite a few that I could see just from the exteriors. I saw at least half a dozen other patch areas at Blocks 14 and also 12 – especially the ones facing the private estate.

  4. Hi CY,

    Do you have any updates on your side? I heard some contractors saying that release of keys will only be in Feb 2014. Not sure how true this is though…. Sigh.

  5. Hi Eileen; not directly from my side, but there’s no lack of rumors coming from other residents’ visitations to the site. Depending on who they spoke to and what they saw, the rumors include:

    1) that it’s TOPed, keys have been released, and renovations for select units have begin;
    2) that it’s not TOPed but someone has got keys and they saw home renovation ongoing;
    3) that it’s TOPed but keys are not released yet as there is still clean-up work going on.

    So honestly, no one seems absolutely certain. My feel of it is that it’ll (actually) TOP this month though with key release starting early December.

  6. Hi CY,

    Thank you for such amazing updates of Minton. Me and bf finally purchased a unit at minton two weeks ago. It’s been terribly tiring and stressful few months searching, viewing, and considering choices for our first home, and only after i managed to find your blog, looking at your great pictures.. its really mesmerizing, then we decided to go ahead with Minton :)

    I sincerely would like to thank you for all your great post. Now looking forward for the TOP news too :)

    Yen

  7. Hi Yen,

    What’s the price you brought? Just been to the site today, seen like the TOP is not going to be too soon.

  8. Hi Yen; thanks for the visitation to our blog and am glad that the updates have been useful. To be fair, there hasn’t been significant changes to the current development state for a few months now, apart from minor rectification works which I guess is what’s holding up the award of TOP. I might go by this weekend again for another photo-visit, but don’t expect to see much different!

    And Bryson too; If you were to write to the Developer now though inquiring about TOP, you’d probably get their stock reply that TOP is still according to their timeline, and that it will be reached anytime now till the first quarter of 2014 – though key distribution will also take even more months, given the number of units in the project.

  9. Hi Bryson,
    It is 1,150k for the 2 bedrooms. My friend, who is the agent as well, had introduced minton to me 2 years ago. It was 950k back then for 3 bedrooms. I didn’t give a thought about it at all, and I still regret about that till date ;(

    Hi CY,
    I will still look forward to your post :)
    Just looking at those pictures, we have been day-dreaming the day we gonna stay there haha!

  10. After looking at the recent pictures, seen like top will be delayed.

    Recently I had managed to look up for curtain and wallpaper, I happened to receive a est. quotation for my 3 bedrooms unit with whole house wallpaper plus day & night curtain at below $6k. The material and design look and feel really good.

    Just for sharing, if you are interested, can contact Mr Lim at 9XXXXXXX. His service is prompt.

  11. Hi Bryson; thanks for the contact point – I’ve also received several quotations already myself. I’ve edited out the photo number above though – among other reasons, I don’t think it’s prudent to leave someone else’s phone number in public space! If other Minton residents will like another curtain maker contact point, I suggest to email me and I’ll be happy to forward their query to you over email for you to pass along Mr. Lim’s contact.

  12. Oh didn’t realized that. I am kind of happy with Mr Lim service and will like to support him more.

    I just called him and he’s glad to have his contact pass ard so that he can serve our residents better and with LOW cost + good quality.
