Gardens by the Bay

The institution I work in has a biannual event which sees staff having an outdoor family event. The usual staple of Singapore attractions typically serve as venues, and this year – also Hannah’s first – was going to be our island’s newest tourist-y attraction; Gardens by the Bay. The place opened in late June, just shortly after our Ang Mo bud left for home.

We spent several hours at the park, visiting all three places which charged admission fees – the two conservatories, and the Supertree Grove. Of the three, I liked the Cloud Forest to the most. The conservatory is dominated by a 35m high waterfall in a cooled environment intended to simulate the cold and moist conditions found in mountainous regions. Lots of photographic opportunities too – the EM-5’s 12-50mm macro feature really had a great workout with Ling pointing out flower species and interesting plant features at every turn.

Hannah didn’t like the place very much though; what with all the walking involved, and that she was with generously sprayed with water droplets in the Cloud Forest.:)
