Day 1: Sweet Spring @ AMK Hub

One of the restaurants that the both of us have liked a lot and got onto on our mission check list to fatten Matt up was the Sweet Spring dim-sum eatery at AMK Hub. After work last evening, I swung by to pick all three persons up – Ling, Matt and little Hannah – got into the usual heavy and slow traffic along Avenue 5, but otherwise reached the mall uneventfully close to 7 pm.

We’ve blogged about the restaurant here before; while the dim sum range itself isn’t quite as wide compared to Crystal Jade Kitchen, what they’ve got, they sure do it very well! The spicy wantons remain my favorite (Ling prefers the chive vegetable dumplings) as do the steam barbequed pork buns. Unfortunately, the latter was sold out by this time of the hour, though we did tell Matt a return trip on his own is really worth it considering the taste of those buns. Absolutely yummy.

We rounded off dinner with a trio of desserts: of which the mango pudding mix was easily the most impressive of the lot. We had no idea the size of this particular item was more than the other two desserts put together, and between just Ling and myself there’s no way we could had finished the mountain. But we had Matt, of course.:)

Hannah was pretty well-behaved throughout, grumbled just a mite but certainly nowhere near the roof-shaking dins she’s capable of.:)

  1. I’m convinced that by ordering three of those mango ice deserts from last night we could lump them into one and roll ourselves a mighty big snowman. I’m still full from last night!

  2. is hannah’s expression one of awe at your pal, Matt’s appetite??

  3. Hannah’s been taking good long looks at Matt, appraising him. I’ll give it a day more – by then she should be best of friends with him.:)

  4. I visited Sweet Spring together with my cousin over the weekend. However, received a very bad experience thoughtout the whole dining.

First, we wanted to order the signature dish: Soya Beancurd. However, the waitress that assist us told us that it was out of stock. By then, this dish was being served to a customer who came later then us.

All waiter and waitress was not alart at all, we have to go to the counter ourselves to place additional order.

We did wrote some comments on the feedback form/card that was placed on the table. Never do we know that even the manager there was providing a bad service. She gave us an attitude while we present the feedback form/card to her, as we are unable to reach the comment box while is placed next to the counter.

It defeat the purpose of placing comment form/card on the table, if you are unable to accept any feedback given by customers.

We, the customers pay to dine and do not wish to receive this type of service given by the staffs there.

  5. Yikes – sounds like you had a really bad experience there. On our end; we were at Sweet Spring twice in the last 3 weeks, but service itself was about alright, and even extremely attentive on the first occasion (blogged here). We were served by different persons on both occasions though, so it might had been the wait staff on station during the visit.

Item availability does seem like an issue though: the first time 3 weeks ago there weren’t steam barbequed pork buns, as mentioned here. 2 weeks later during the morning visit, there weren’t bean curd.:)
