Hannah’s first taste of solid food

7th Dec 2009 – the first day little Hannah step into the world of glorious food. :P For the past 6 months, she has been feeding on some breast milk and mostly formula milk. Her paediatrician advised that solid food be given after 6 months to avoid her immature digestive system from causing food allergy.

So mommy was all ready; armed with knowledge, high chair, feeding bowl, baby spoon, special bib, handkerchief and a little porridge cooked with lotsa love. The camera started rolling and, and…well she was rather nonchalant about the whole, much anticipated moment lah. Probably it was just plain porridge boring stuff LOL. :P Well, at least she was willing to open her mouth for the spoon to land on. The rest is er, well, let’s just say that it was more of a tasting session rather than actual eating, ha ha. Way to go, sweetie! :)

I decided to skip the commercial fortified cereals altogether and prepare food from fresh sources at home as I was inspired by other mothers who swore on feeding their babies natural, unprocessed foods. Even so, I wonder how much difference it would make. Following the 3-day rule for introducing a new food suggested by friends and her paediatrician, I plan to intro foods in this order or similar: white rice (porridge), carrot, potato, sweet potato, tofu, apple, peas, papaya, spinach, pumpkin, ground white bait, baby corn, threadfin, pear, etc. Might throw in the nutritious avocado too though I don’t fancy the fruit myself, hee hee.  :)
